Ipes has won the Specialist Professional Services Firm category in the Private Equity Awards 2010.
The annual awards, which recognise the achievements of individuals and firms working within venture capital and private equity, are presented by the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) and private equity publication Real Deals. They are generally regarded as the ultimate accolade for the industry's dealmakers and advisers.
Kevin Brennan, Chief Executive of Ipes said 'We are delighted to win this award, which is very much a tribute to the outstanding performance and hard work of all our team and the support of our clients - particularly over what has been a challenging 12 months for the industry as whole.'
Ipes was one of seven firms shortlisted for the specialist category. It was praised by judges for winning 23 new mandates across a broad range of fund types, as well as for keeping hold of all of its existing mandates. 'The firm always emphasises its flexible, tailor-made service' said the judges 'While at the same time running a lean and slick operation'.
Entrants were required to demonstrate the quality and growth of their business, the value that they added to the private equity industry and evidence of genuine innovation and creativity supported by client testimonials.
A detailed submission document was followed by an in depth interview with researchers from the London Business School. A panel of 15 judges, made up of leading figures within the private equity industry then reviewed all the evidence, before coming to a decision.
'From our perspective, this is the industry award to win given its affiliation with the BVCA and the rigour of the judging process' adds Ipes Chairman, Richard Grainger, who collected the award.
Ipes was founded in Guernsey in 1998, and is today over 120 people strong with offices in London, Luxembourg, Jersey and Guernsey. The firm, which specialises in private equity fund administration, has continued to grow and win new business despite challenging market conditions.
Brennan says 'Ipes has always been a service led business and this approach is shared by all our staff. It is only through their dedication to training, professionalism and client service delivery that we were able to beat off the very strong competition'.
Winners of other categories at the awards, which were presented at a ceremony in London on 22 April attended by more than 700 people, included SJ Berwin, Apax Partners, PWC, Rothschild and HSBC.
