University students from Guernsey could receive a cash boost through a new bursary scheme

Ipes is looking to give a local student a head start in their University education.

The Guernsey founded fund services provider has established a new bursary scheme which will provide the chosen student with an annual maintenance grant of up to £1,800.

Ipes’ Group Head of HR Rosanne Spurrier says, “As a local employer Ipes is keen to support students whose knowledge and experience will benefit the future of the island’s economy. We are well aware University education can be expensive and we hope this grant will go some way towards making one local student’s life a little easier.”

As well as receiving the annual award the chosen student will also benefit from completing 10 weeks paid work experience with Ipes during each year of their study which can be undertaken during their University holidays. However at the end of their study there is no obligation to join Ipes.

Rosanne Spurrier continues, “We would welcome applications from any student who has lived in the Bailiwick of Guernsey for at least three years and should have at least 300 UCAS points or is expected to achieve a high standard of academic ability at A-Level. Candidates will need to complete the scheme application form and short-listed students will be expected to attend a short interview at our offices.”

Applications need to be received by Friday 30 April 2010 for students looking to receive the grant for the academic year 2010/2011.
