Ipes gives The Guernsey Blind Association a boost through fundraising efforts

Locally founded fund administrator Ipes Guernsey held a dedicated fundraising morning in its St Peter Port offices in aid of The Guernsey Blind Association.

Ipes’ Senior Management Team went back to basics by auctioning off their parking spaces to staff, putting themselves forward to be recruited for donations by the operational teams and selling and serving bacon rolls and refreshments to staff.

The Guernsey Blind Association is a local charity that aims to assist the visually impaired in the Bailiwick. The charity has a resource centre in the island which is equipped with items to help with daily living such as watches, talking clocks, kitchen equipment and writing guides.

The President of the Guernsey Blind Association Sandy Mauger said, “We are delighted Ipes chose to support the Guernsey Blind Association as its wonderful not only to receive much needed funds but also to raise the charity’s profile and the more awareness we can create the more we can do to dispel the stigma that surrounds blindness. All the funds we receive stay in the Bailiwick so they are being reinvested to help the visually impaired in our Community.”

The Charity also provides recorded news to its members and a calendar of social activities during the year, with some acting as fundraisers. The Association also provides financial assistance where required and general ongoing support.

Ipes Guernsey’s staff voted to support The Guernsey Blind Association as one of their two charities of 2011. Michel Davy, Ipes Guernsey’s Managing Director said, “Ipes was pleased to support the Guernsey Blind Association as its work is solely funded by donations our contribution to the charity will have a direct impact in helping their work continue. Ipes not only provided financial support to the charity but a number of our staff have also volunteered to be drivers when the charity’s members need transport.”

The fundraising morning raised almost £600 which will be added to the other fundraising activities that took place during 2011.
