Ipes Guernsey appoints Managing Director
Michel Davy has been appointed as Managing Director for Ipes in Guernsey. The appointment, which is an internal promotion, was approved by the GFSC earlier this month.
Michel will spearhead the development of the Guernsey business, overseeing key client relationships and taking a lead role in building relationships with the professional community. He will work closely with Group Chief Executive Kevin Brennan.
“As Ipes has grown here in Guernsey and expanded into other jurisdictions, we now have a requirement for someone at a senior level to head up our Guernsey business” explains Kevin Brennan.
“Michel’s experience on the operational side of the business and more recently in the commercial sphere, make him well placed to lead and develop the Guernsey business. We are delighted to appoint a local person to the Managing Director position of our largest office, Michel was a logical and natural choice for us” he continues.
Michel has been with Ipes since 2002. He joined originally as a fund accountant and forged a strong career path into management as Client Director in 2007. Latterly Michel was responsible for client relationships as Head of Client Relationship Management for the Group. Before joining Ipes, Michel trained as a Chartered Certified Accountant with Ernst & Young, Guernsey.
On his appointment Michel said, “I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead; this is an exciting time for the industry with many initiatives, both locally and internationally that will alter the funds landscape.
“In addition, the relocation of the Guernsey office into a new address at Royal Chambers, planned for the end of the year is particularly welcome and demonstrates our commitment to grow our Guernsey business”.
Ipes was established in Guernsey in 1998 with just five members of staff, today the organisation is 80 strong on the Island and the group employs more than 120 people across offices in London, Luxembourg and Jersey.
Kevin Brennan says “Our people have been critical to the success of our business, and we work hard to recruit and retain local talent. We invest heavily in training, more than 87% of our staff are qualified or working towards a qualification and we genuinely prefer to promote our own people”.
Earlier this year, Ipes promoted Sharon Alvarez and Karen Haith to Director level positions in Guernsey.
